CCC 46 - The Decline and Fall of the M/K Empire

I don't have anything against PC games, although since I'm currently running a rig with a GeForce FX 5500, I don't have a lot to say in their favor either. At some point before the PS4 and Xbox whatever come out, I'll try to pick up a DX10 card on the cheap so I can play Crysis and Hellgate: London and stuff, and maybe see what Oblivion is like with all the mods that are supposedly so rad. Ultimately, however, I feel that the three-year lifespan of graphics cards isn't worth the increased technical performance. Technical issues aside, PCs and consoles are coming closer and closer. Excellent online play, episodic content, venues for smaller developers, experimental storytelling, strategy games... all these things were once the near-exclusive province of the PC, and they're all being duplicated by the consoles. I predict that by 2012 or so, there won't be enough of a difference between the two for anyone to even bother getting excited about. Now, however, there IS a difference, and I tried to show that in this comic. Whoo. That paragraph got out of hand.
Did I mention that I started a blog about webcomics? Actually, I've already received a few visitors from it, so maybe you do know. I just thought I'd like to get some traffic going the other way as well. It doesn't update much, but if you don't get enough John Solomon anymore and you want an eighth-rate ripoff, check it out!
